All about Digestion

Digestion is the process of breaking food down into small pieces that your body can absorb and use for energy and growth. It starts in your mouth, where your teeth chew food and saliva begins to break down starch.

Food then travels down the oesophagus to the stomach, where strong acid and enzymes continue the breakdown. The small intestine absorbs nutrients into your blood, and the large intestine takes back water and forms waste that leaves the body.
